Few Questions !!!

Post by zahida »

i am a banking and finance student in melbourne, Australia.
i wanna research on islamic governance methods....its financial sector dealings with other non muslims countries, foreign trade, etc and other financial phenonmenon in detail...is there any authentic book that explains administration of prophet and caliphs with out fragmentation? basic purpose is i want to see how an islamic economic system can be established ,,,i mean i want to find step by step process in detail and depth..its not enough to say that interest is forbidden,,,ok it is forbidden but it is more important i guess to find that better system that was implemented by prophet only that can replace current system and what do we need to do in order to achieve it successfully...i know there must be some systematic process but i get confused in the middle when rationalising few things. as am just a student so i guess i need to read a lot in order to get grasp on it .,any relevant readings ?

secondly i want to know actual islamic standing on true dreams, or warning dreams or what ever real life related dreams ? [i asked this question on email too but didnt get any reply]

thirdly. do we need to read torat, bible, zaboor etc what ever books are available today in order to understand Quran ? or only Quran can be understood on its own ? it should be logically understood on its own but i was unable to understand meaning of unclean animals,,i read some post yesterday in some website explaining unclean animals in light of bible and jew's book...it was by some muslim i guess.....but do we have definition of unclean animal in Quran ? i.e. those who dont eat waste of nature...or those who are fed on grains etc ,,,? this was defined relative to pigs, and lobsters etc

Dear Sister,

If I understand your second question correctly then dream can be seen and expressed in our day time language. Our dream is an act of pure imagination and it also attests a creative power within us. With this imagination and power we can fulfil ourselves in our pursuit of excellence. So if you have dream, grab it and dont let it go. Dreams come true if we have diligence and capacity to fulfil them.

There is another kind of dream called pipe dream. Such as an opium smoker might have.

lol....opium smoker dream???
no i wasnt talking abt such dreams...
however your first kind of dreams explanation seems a helpful...
incase i didnt explain well, i wanted to know about those dreams that tell you that e.g. something is going to happen this way in future...about such dreams?....by the way i remembered Quran also mentions them in Hazrat yousaf's story if am not wrong. i mean that kind of dreams that tell you something about those issues on which you think you have no power at that time.

Salaam Aleikum,

The Quran says clearly that Yousouf was taught the meaning sof dreams by God, this means it is a form of Wahi, Revelation that explained it.

I am very carefull to the interpretation of dreams as we are not guided on this issue. You create self-fulfilling prophecies based on wrong interpretations, so please be carefull.

As for Economics, I reccommend these books and chapters:

And also these 2 books which discuss the Economic system of the Quran as understood by Dr.Muhammed Shahroor from Syria, this man is a genius so look out for him:

Salaams!

With regard to the 3rd question, Islam the deen does not support the concept of "unclean animals", the Quran states - 2:173 He has forbidden you: dead meat (carrion), and blood, and swineflesh, and anything (not just meat) that has been dedicated to other than Allah (be it a person, an idol or a tomb 5:3.)

Of the edible food anything that does not fall within these four categories is fine for consumption. What is edible food? Well poison berries is not edible for obvious reasons, on the other hand monkey or snake meat is fine provided the kill is fresh and that it was not devoted to anyone other than God. Of course common sense is applicable at all times.

I believe the ban of swineflesh has something to do with the environment as much as it has to do with health. I remember reading that pig farms are a real drain on the environment, will try to get you the articles soon IA.

As far as eating waste material is concerned, bunnies eat their own poo yet the muslim 'scholars' have no problem consuming bunny meat, so this argument doesn't hold much water imho.

And finally the bible, torah, zaboor should be understood in light of the Quran, not the other way around. Quran is the yard stick not the other books :)

الطيبات=the good/the beautiful/the pure/the enjoyable/the goodnesses/the allowed (p/f)/the permitted (p/f)

Yas-aloonaka matha ohilla lahumqul ohilla lakumu alttayyibatu wamaAAallamtum mina aljawarihi mukallibeenatuAAallimoonahunna mimma AAallamakumu Allahufakuloo mimma amsakna AAalaykum waothkurooisma Allahi AAalayhi waittaqoo Allaha innaAllaha sareeAAu alhisabi

Root:

Tay-Ya-Ba = to be good, pleasant, agreeable, lawful. tibna - of their (women's) own free will and being good (to you). tuuba - joy, happiness, an enviable state of bliss. tayyib - good/clean/wholesome/gentle/excellent/fair/lawful.

it was, or became, pure, (Mgb,
f V,) or clean. (Mgh.) [See also 4.]
[Hence,] ; .;U t His mind [or h ilimself]
was, or became, [cheef , happy, pleased,] dilated,
or free from straitness.

http://www.studyquran.co.uk/22_TAY.htm

So the definition here for what food is allowed is:

-It has to be good for your body.
-It must be pure (meaning, made by nature)
-It must be clean from harmful bacteria, dirt, blood and attained through lawful means.
-It is wholesome for your body
-It is pleasurable to eat

Salaams!

Here's a good document on the effects factory farming (mass scale animal farming) has on the environment:
http://www.nrdc.org/water/pollution/cesspools/cesspools.pdf

While the document talks about livestock in general note the frequent occurrances of the word "hog" and "swine". Reading chapters 1-3 should be sufficient :)

"-It has to be good for your body.
-It must be pure (meaning, made by nature)
-It must be clean from harmful bacteria, dirt, blood and attained through lawful means.
-It is wholesome for your body
-It is pleasurable to eat"

Agreed and it must be noted that these points are relative and is applicable to the 'available' food items in a particular locality, what might put us off our appetite would not be the case for someone else. This is why the Quran doesn't limit us to a particular list of food items, it's simply not practical.

salam and thanks alot Abdun
yeah i will definitely read your esssays,,,,as i am student of banking and finance,,,i understand how deeply this system is rooted,,,and i feel we dont have a single writer who could deeply address the technical issues,,,,whereas in my opinion to have islamic economic system is base....and we dont have enough proper material on it so thats why i am trying to gather proper things. Due to lack of knowledge or whatever i have seen many writers producing stuff that other forms of interest are allowed except compounded interest. they give references from hadith books.but i dont agree :) so thats why i want to find the true system. Thanks a lot for helping me .... :)
