Explaining Islam to Christians

Post by Musawwir »

Salaam,

I have a few questions on Christianity vs Islam

1) What exactly is the Muslim Position on the Bible?
We are required to believe in the Books of Allah, but the Bible certainly isn't the revelations of God to Jesus.

2) What exactly happened to the Torah, Zabur, Injeel as Muslims are supposed to believe in them? Do we believe that they were revealed books but are no longer in existence at all?

3) How should Christians be explained to about Islam? That all messengers preached one message and that is the unity of God, and that Islam is just a continuation of Jesus's message, albeit the Final Message.

4) Many books have been written about prophecies about Muhammad SAW in the Bible. Is this a good idea to pursue, considering we don't consider their books authentic anyway?

Answers:

1) The position of mixed Revelation with man-recorded history, and thus unreliable as a source. We must the Quran as a Furqan to widge out the Truth in it, but still being carefull to trust that even.

Is a bit the same with the Muslim history, we can only use the Quran as a Criterion on this, but must be very careful.

In a sense, we are just honest about such books. We do not say like many Western Bible scholars, it is all man-made, we acknowledge the Divine source of the original scriptures, but we do believe man has tampered with it, and so it can not be a source of guidance anymore for mankind.

2) They were changed or even lost over time, but we must believe previous people were also guided by God, so we acknowledge the claim of the Jews, Christians, Zoroasterians and Vedantas that their scriptures used to have a Divine origines.

In this way we can understand the timeline of Guidance which God has done to Mankind from Noah's day.

3) You hit the Jackpot!

4) It can be interresting to let people see the link between the Revel;ations, but it still the Quranic message alone that can convince people. So it can do no harm when it is done honestly.

Sadly still, a lot of scholars think it is a sort of game where we fight over who is the best worship-religion. While in reality it is about who has the best System of Life.
