Antisemitism began when Jews denounced Jesus as a false prophet and Christians retaliated by calling them Christ killer. For thousands of years the two religious groups have perpetuated violence against each other. No other religious faith took that position against Jews and Judaism that historical Christianity took. It is an irony that Muslims have been drawn in this debate and have now been projected as an antisemitic community. The reality is that Jews lived with dignity in the Muslim world without fearing for pogroms that they experienced in Christian Europe. That does not mean that some Muslims did not discriminate against Jews. But by and large the Muslim community did not denounce Judaism or Jews as a religious community.
