The Fantasy Qur’an

In ancient times, the verses came,
A guiding light, a holy flame.
Yet human hands did weave a tale,
Transforming truths with fantasy's veil.

From wisdom deep, to fables spun,
They turned divine to whims of fun.
Solomon, with animals in chat,
A narrative that logic spat.

No speaking ants or birds that know,
Just metaphors that deeply show,
The essence of a leader's might,
Hidden now from seekers' sight.

They twisted tales to fit their mould,
Forgetting wisdom ages old.
Now seekers look with sceptic eyes,
At fairy tales and clouded skies.

The Qur’an, once a book of light,
Now shrouded in the fanciful night.
O, how we've strayed from meanings clear,
Into a realm of tales we steer.

But let us peel the layers away,
Return to truths, let wisdom stay.
For in its depths, the lessons lie,
Beyond the myths we did apply.

With reasoned thought and open mind,
The true divine, we seek to find.
No fantasies, but guidance pure,
In Revelation's light, secure.

Omar Khayyam, the renowned Persian poet, mathematician, and philosopher, is often celebrated for his quatrains that weave profound reflections on life, fate, and the divine. However, over the centuries, the understanding of his verses, much like certain Qur’anic stories, has occasionally been reimagined into enchanting fairy-tale narratives. Some interpretations of Qur’anic verses have evolved into fantastical tales, overshadowing the original spiritual and moral lessons intended by the sacred text.

From the tale of Solomon and the hoopoe bird to the miraculous transformation of Moses' staff into a serpent, Qur’anic narratives have provided fertile ground for the imagination. These stories, while rooted in divine revelation and intended to convey deep spiritual lessons, have sometimes been embellished with elements of fantasy. As a result, the core messages of faith, morality, and divine power can become obscured by the allure of magical and mythical embellishments. The tales attributed to Messengers, swallowed by fish, thrown into fire and much more serve to make the Qur'an and book on par with Omar Khayyam, not a Book of Allah.

Qur’anic stories need to be re-examined when their interpretations have, many a time, strayed into the realm of fairy-tales. By exploring the original context and purpose of these verses, we will reclaim their profound significance and importance by adhering to authentic exegesis and scholarly guidance. There is a delicate balance between imagination and reverence, ensuring that the divine wisdom of the Qur’an remains clear and unaltered in its transmission to future generations.
