Quran is very clear on this subject. 100 lashes in public for Zina, whoever the

wrongdoer; man or woman.


Much before the advent of Islam we in Punjab (Pakistan) used to flog 100 littars in public. Littar is a piece of leather flat enough not to harm the skin. The object was to degrade and not to cause injuries, more disgraceful when done in public.


If it is adultry spoken of in verse 2 of chapter 24 and the offence has withstood the evidence required under verse 4 of chapter 24 then why the punishment should not be made public? Why be apologetic when Quran says let not pity for them detain you from obedience to Allah?. The quality of Judges having legal force or effectiveness is a separate issue.


We should move towards advanced state of social developmen but not at the expense of Divine Laws because Allah knows better..
