Status of hadeeth.

Post by sidqi »

Although its a repeated forum discussion, however the influence of contradictions has effected generation till today and will continiue.

A 15 episiode urdu video "'Status of hadeeth" of 8 mins each on Youtube from most popular "Geo tv" of Pakistan reflects today's muslim .

The 4 participants were learned in their own fields. A mufti, a govt. Sharia court advisor, a Scholar, and a Shia scholar. All are notable and represent our society in general.

All agreed on following.

1. Quran , Sunnah and Hadeeth are 3 different things.

2. Quran can not be understood with out hadeeth.

3. Quran descended in 23 years.

4. Quran can not be followed without scholars.

5. We have to continue following Hadeeth and Fiqhas.

No one said for once that Quran is easy and Allah says directly to reader that He will make it easy to understand. ( 22/16, 74/55, 54/17, 55/2 and more)

But it was a good inter dialogue, a sign of tolerance and a good effort from Media.

Lets see how our forum memebers reflect.

Salaam,

What is interesting to me is their conclusions. Normally deduction is following all possibilities to see which are the most likely.

Their conclusions:

All agreed on following.

1. Quran , Sunnah and Hadeeth are 3 different things.

2. Quran can not be understood with out hadeeth.

3. Quran descended in 23 years.

4. Quran can not be followed without scholars.

5. We have to continue following Hadeeth and Fiqhas.

This is my list on their conclusions:

1. They have a certain preconceived idea of what the Qur'an must say.

2. That idea can only be created by twisting the Qur'an's message from its original linguistic meanings through the use of Hadith into dogmatic meanings.

3. Because they believe that the Qur'an is about worship and salvation, they need Hadith to create the rituals and dogma's since the Qur'an lacks dogmatic ritualistic ideas.

4. As the Qur'an is libertarian, universal and pluralistic, to make it usable for totalerian, non-plurastic regimes, the Qur'an must be restricted and replaced by the Hadith as much as possible.

5. As the Qur'an also doesn't sustain secterian detailistic ideas, to sustain secterian dogma's, Hadith must be used.

and the most important one:

6. They have never even tried to see if the Qur'an is sensible on its own linguistic meanings and cross-reference context. It is not a living book to them, but a dead that only has its place in history, so they can keep their control on the people in the present.

Gentlemen, Salaam

The Big question that we must ask ourselves is "Why did Allah and His Messenger only chose to leave us with one book. Could they have not known how stories based on hearsay get corrupted?

We are not following a hand me down Sunnah (on which we base our values) more than Bukhari or Muslim.

Those who insist on following ahadees must tell us which version. Shia or Sunni?

No harm in referring to the ahadees if we find them matching with the Qur'an, are not against science and do not insult the Messenger, his wives or his companions. As long as we remember it is not God's word therefore may or may not be true.

Sure. History has lessons for us but there is a difference about history that we have witnessed and history that occured a while back. How to figure out which part of it is true?

Regards,

Mubashir
