Muslims Praying in Churches, Christians Praying in Mosques

Post by Musawwir »

Salaam,

Is it permissible to allow Christians to hold services and pray in mosques in a situation where Christians are in a minority and do not have a place of their own?

Similarly, is it permissible for Muslims in a minority to accept the offer of Christians to pray and hold services in churches and chapels?

What about this question with regards to Jews, Hindus and Buddhists?

Aleikum Salaam,

Masjids are meant as government houses and not as religious places. Because people were not allowed anymore to participate in the government, masjids were turned into places of worship instead of places of Justice, Law and Government.

Thus your question is the same as asking if Christians can pray in the local city hall and Muslim discuss matters of society and government in Churches.

The concept of "religious places" is alien to the Quranic Deen, the Divine Social system. And the concepts of religious rules and thought are mostly non-Quranic made by humans and borrowed from other religions.

The Quran learns us Reality, believing in one God is Reality, believing in a Trinity is not reality, and this is the whole point why religious ideas of other faiths are discussed in the Quran. Not because God cares, but because humans have a wrong understanding of Reality which affects their behaviour.

This religious idea of who acknowledges God in the best way is created by humans. Allah is far above these nonsensical arguments, He only wants us to understand Reality in the best way so we can act upon it in the best way.
