Wrong translations of the Qur'an can repel people!

Salaams Dr Shabbir,

I have managed to register successfully with ourbeacon forums and I am going
through some of the threads which I think will clarify lot of my doubts.

I am pleased to note that believing in the Quran has strengthened my faith
as a Muslim.

And Thank you for your wonderful explanantion on Paradise and Hellfire...I
will certainly refer to the ayats you have quoted therein. I used to read
the English translation of Quran (Yusuf Ali I think) and also tafseer, but I
found it difficult to go through it because of all the fear that it evoked
in me. My daughter faces the same type of fear and I am so satisfied that I
will be able to actually read the Quran with a sensible and logical mind.
Perhaps Inshallah I will be able to understand it much better.

Also I was given the fear of torture in the grave....and I read in Surah
Yasin QXP that there is no mention of torture in the grave in the
Quran...how do people come up with such tactics to keep their following is
beyond comprehension.

I do send you my good wishes to continue your wonderful and knowledgable
efforts and Inshallah I will post my queries in your forum.

I was at the point of turning away from Islam due to the extremism I have
faced and I could not argue with it, but you have pointed out a way on how I
can also have a voice of reason. Surely I will give my best effort to
understand and follow Islam and bring up my daughters as Muslims.
