The cause of his demise wasn't immediately clear.

According to the party’s spokesperson, Hamza, the TLP chief had been experiencing difficulty in breathing and was running a fever since yesterday.

The spokesperson added that Rizvi was at his madressah on Multan Road when his condition deteriorated on Thursday evening. He was subsequently rushed to the Farooq Hospital in Lahore, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. His body was being transported to his residence.

Some time later, social media was abuzz with reports that Rizvi was still alive and had only been unconscious for a while.

When contacted to verify the reports, another TLP spokesperson, Ibn-e-Ismail, said that Rizvi had started breathing again and they had summoned an ambulance, but the paramedic staff pronounced him dead when they checked him.

Pir Aijaz Ashrafi, a senior leader of Tehreek-i-Labbaik Ya Rasool Allah (TLYRA), in a statement said the timings of his funeral prayers will be announced later.

His death was also confirmed by Dr Asif Ashraf Jalali, the head of TLYRA.

The firebrand cleric made his last public appearance at a sit-in staged by thousands of TLP followers at Islamabad's Faizabad interchange to protest the publication of blasphemous caricatures of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) in France.

The group had decided to end the sit-in on Monday after successful negotiations with the government.

Prime Minister Imran Khan offered condolences on his demise.

Being a paraplegic, the probable cause of his death was pulmonary embolism (blood clots in the lungs shifting from his legs).

He will be remembered for his services to 'khatm-e-nabawwut' [Finality of Prophethood).

Best prayers for him and his family.

He has gone as quickly as he came.Khadim Hussain Rizvi suddenly surfaced in our lives 5yrs ago.We had never heard this name earlier. He shot to prominence after Mumtaz Qadri (one of his followers was arrested).

The guy who assasinated Governor Salman Taseer in 2011.

When Qadri was hanged in 2016 Khadim Rizvi converted his Movement to Tehrik e Labbaik Ya Rasool Allah. He became a self- appointed Guardian for our Messenger.

Nursing an ambition to become a Political leader he changed the name of his Movement to Tehrike Labbaik Pakistan and shocked everyone by winning seats in the Provincial Assembly. The late Allama had secured 2.2 million votes in the 2018 elections.

Did he ever had an inclination that he will be gone so soon when he cut off the Federal Capital Islamabad last weekend?

This was the 3rd time he had managed to gather his followers to raise a hue and cry at the French President's remark against our Prophet. He had done this earlier in 2016 and 2017.

The one address to his followers I remember was his comment on all playing and watching our much loved Game-- CRICKET!

" Its HARAAM!" he had declared to his many followers cheering him along." All who play and watch this game will go to HELL!"

Farewell Khadim Hussain Rizvi Sahab.

Let the Almighty decide who will go to HEAVEN and who to HELL.

His knowledge of Iqbal’s poetry and love for the exalted Prophet was overwhelming. He had a very large following, some say in the millions, within Pakistan and abroad. His support of the “blasphemy law” to the extent of extrajudicial punishment without the due process of law, earned him the scorn of the establishment and the nickname of “blasphemy activist”.

He is reported to have died of Coronavirus on the 19th of November. His funeral was on the 21st of November and attended by a gathering of approximately 15 million people who did not follow the COVID-19 guidelines of using a face mask or keeping the mutual distance. Even if 1% of the crowd gets affected by the virus, this gathering can impact the health of approximately 150,000 people. God forbid.
