Respected forum members,

Salam,

If Namaz is not salat then what is Azaan for? And is this method of Azaan is the same as at the time of our beloved prophet Hazrat Muhammad(PBUH)?

Regards & Salam

Respected brother,

Namaz in congregation is a small part of Salat. The frequency of Namaz was determined by the Islamic government according to the needs of the time.

AZAN used to be: YA SALAT-IL-JAAMI'AH!

Dear Dr. Shabbir
Salamun Alikum

If Namaz is the small part of salat then how do we perform this namaz? What are the actions/movements and what to recite in the namaz?
Please post in detail so that we could perform namaz according to Quran.

Jazak Allah

Respected brother Shoaib,

I have written before (I think even on the Blog), that during the early sacred era, Namaz used to be only one rak'at standing. Compare this to Qir'at today before many functions.

The emir (governor) of the town used to recite nothing but Surah Al-Fatihah. It was similar to the standing Namaz Janaza of today.

Thus, by focusing attention to Allah, the Masjid would deal with the real issues.

I am not saying that we should make any changes in today's Namaz since I am no authority. The true Islamic government, whenever it comes, will revert to the truth by expounding the most ancient concealed books.

Rukoo' & Sajdah are total mental submission to Divine Commands and not physical movements.
